Fall Foliage Trains

Fall Foliage Special

Our 4-hour Fall Foliage Special departs Meredith Station at 11am and proceeds north where we’ll travel up and over Ashland Summit. We’ll then cross the Ashland High Trestle, pass through the Bonnie Brae Deer Farm and the Glove Hollow Christmas Tree Farm in Bridgewater before arriving in Plymouth, NH. Our destination is the Common Man Inn & Spa located on the north end of town. Once there, we’ll gather in the dining room to enjoy a hot buffet lunch. Following your meal, you’re welcome to visit the Common Man’s extensive Gift Shop before returning to the train.

When everyone has re-boarded, our Fall Foliage Special will depart and proceed south through Plymouth and Bridgewater and stop in Ashland, NH at the restored 1869 Boston & Maine Railroad Station. Upon arriving, we’ll be greeted by members of the Ashland Historical Society dressed in 1860’s attire who will provide guided tours of their historic station. Following the guided tours, we’ll board the train for the final time and head south to Meredith Station where we’ll return just after 3pm.

Below are descriptions for the three levels of seating we offer:

Coach Class
Seating in Coach Class is very much like you’d enjoy on a commuter train – bench seating with two seats facing two seats. The cars are decorated for the Fall season and you’ll enjoy views out both sides of our Coach Class cars.
First Class:
Seating in this car, known as the “Cold Harbor”, is like relaxing in a large living room. This privately-owned Pullman car has a variety of seating – everything from regular bench seating like you’d enjoy on a commuter train, to living room chairs and a couch to tables with chairs. You’ll enjoy views out both sides of the car with the exception of one room that has a couch for two where you’ll enjoy views out one side of the car. You’ll have a Steward on the Cold Harbor as well as a variety of light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy during your excursion.
Presidential Class:
Seating in this car, known as “Determination”, is like traveling back in the day when Railroad Barons would travel. You’ll enjoy comfortable over-stuffed chairs, a leather couch, a couple leather chairs and several small tables that seat either two or four guests with views out both sides of the car. You’ll also have a Steward on Determination as well as a variety of light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy during your excursion. (as pictured below)
